Building Information Modeling
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a holistic method that enables digital collaboration between all project stakeholders throughout a building’s entire life cycle.
This model- and object-based approach enables us to plan our clients’ and customers’ buildings and infrastructure efficiently and to their specific requirements.
In doing so, we place particular emphasis on cooperation between our in-house specialist departments for building construction and civil engineering, which achieve an exceptionally high standard of planning quality across all project phases through realistic modelling, direct exchange of information and rule-based verification procedures.
Civil engineering
The Civil Engineering Department is increasingly relying on digital components and tools developed in-house. To this end, the department is using the open-source software Dynamo to develop its own algorithms in order to meet the growing demands in the infrastructure sector.
In addition to CIVIL 3D®, the Civil Engineering Department also primarily uses Autodesk REVIT® to facilitate optimal collaboration between departments.
Cooperation
The two specialist departments work together within a closed BIM process using Autodesk REVIT®, thereby avoiding the loss of information that other methods would entail.
Quantities and materials are automatically derived from our specialist models; using the iTWO® tendering software, specifications, unit prices and service descriptions can be assigned and automatically updated as the model is updated. This results in a cost and service overview that is always up to date.
Building Construction
In the Building Construction department, our main focus is on combining the modelling of our construction projects – which is as realistic and collision-free as possible – with data management in REVIT®.
Information such as design parameters, quantities and building physics requirements is directly assigned to and stored for each component.
To this end, the Building Construction department maintains a comprehensive library of custom-created, parameterised components.

To optimise our design processes and information management within the model, we use various tools that link software in both directions, such as REVIT® and Microsoft Excel.
As well as enabling straightforward visualisation of our projects, we benefit from the advantages of the BIM method, as all drawings and design-related lists are derived directly from the specialist models, resulting in a comprehensive and constantly up-to-date design status.
Internal processes and content are continuously optimised and further developed through the proactive initiative of our BIM team.
Quality Assurance
In order to meet the requirements of our work processes and the ever-evolving needs of our clients, we have developed a wide range of tools and procedures. These include, amongst other things, our modelling guidelines, which ensure BIM-compliant modelling and effective information management.
We also check our building information models against defined standards using a rule-based approach. To this end, we use Solibri® software, which enables us to carry out flexible model checks and provides a clear presentation of the results.
Furthermore, with the help of our diverse range of software solutions, we are able to carry out interdisciplinary BIM coordination efficiently. To this end, we have had our BIM team certified in accordance with the standards of VDI and buildingSmart e.V.
